01What we take down

Small house demolition and haul off

Micro Man tears down single-story houses within about 30 miles of Charlestown, Indiana. A mini excavator brings the house down, the debris goes straight into one of our roll-offs parked beside it, and we haul it to the landfill. We do not tear down two-story houses; we only take the jobs we are best suited to complete.

Jenny Cox had us demo a home and a barn and wrote: Jamie did the demo quickly, but professionally. Everything was done as we asked, and the area was left in good condition. He is reasonably priced, timely, and thorough.

Is your house a fit?

The line is the second story. A one-story house is the kind of job we take, and a garage, a shed or a deck on the same lot can come down in the same job. Send photos of all four sides and of anything close to the house: a fence, a power line, a tree or a neighbor’s building.

If the house is taller than one story, we will tell you so up front. If our owner knows someone else can do a better job, he will refer that work away, because we only want the jobs we are best suited to complete.

Permits and the state rules

Permits come from your town or county. Jeffersonville requires a permit to demolish residential properties, New Albany has its own demolition application, and Georgetown has a demo permit form. Each town page names the office.

For the state, IDEM says noncommercial residential buildings with four or fewer dwelling units, such as homes, are exempt from its asbestos emission rules, though owners still have to follow waste disposal rules and local ordinances. A house used as a business is a different case, so ask before we start.
